Founded in 1907, the Association of the Friends of the Forest of Fontainebleau has the aim of contributing to ensure the conservation and the protection of the vegetable and animal settlements, of the sites and picturesque monuments of the Main forest of Fontainebleau.

It ensures the maintenance and the beaconing of more than 300 km of paths, known as “blue paths”, of which some were traced by Denecourt with the 19° century, and publishes a guide of these paths; it carries out, with the collaboration of the ONF, the inventory of the remarkable trees. It holds up to date electronic files on the plants protected like on the 245 species from trees, shrubs and gasolines of arboretum indexed in the solid mass.

Since its creation, it does not cease taking actions intended to promote the education of the young people and the public as regards protection of the forest: walks and exits with topic, conferences and exposures, realization of varied Romanian CD, publication of its review “the VOICE OF the FOREST”

Our association is a recognized interlocutor of the elected officials, public authorities and ONF. Gathering a thousand of members, it is representative and is made the spokesperson of those which, in very diverse fields, find in forest the framework of their favorite activity. Association is thus brought to belong to about twenty organizations and, in particular, the Departmental Commission of the sites, the scientific Advisory committee and the users of the forest of Fontainebleau and the Committee of the biological reserves. It is member founder of the International union for the Nature conservation (UICN).

Our association showed, during one century of existence, its effectiveness: most protection measures of the forest of Fontainebleau were taken with its initiative. Its effectiveness will remain all the more large as its members will be more numerous.

She was recognized like establishment of Public utility per decree of the Ministry for the Interior, of Outre-Mer and the territorial collectivities dated February 3rd, 2010, published in the Journal officiel de la République française on February 5th, 2010 (text 13 out of 100).
