In France, it thrives in the regions of the Landes, the Estérel and Corsica. It fares well during droughts. Maritime Pine needles come in pairs of 12 to 20 centimetres in length and the cone can measure up to 18 centimetres. This species was at the origin of the sap tapping industry. Nowdays, it is grown mostly to be used for the production of posts and pannelling.

Ursprünglich beheimatet in den Landes, im Esterel-Massiv und auf Korsika, ist sie unempfindlich gegen Trockenheit. Ihre paarigen Nadeln sind 12 bis 20 cm lang, ihr großer Kiefernzapfen erreicht bis zu 18 cm. Sie war Ausgangspunkt der industriellen Harzgewinnung. Heute wird sie vor allem für die Herstellung von Leitungsmasten, Pfosten und Paneelen kultiviert.

Il est originaire des Landes, de l'Estérel et de la Corse. Il supporte bien la sécheresse. Ses aiguilles, par paires, mesurent de 12 à 20 cm, son gros cône atteint 18 cm. Il était à l'origine de l'industrie du gemmage de la résine. Aujourd'hui on le cultive surtout pour la production de poteaux et de lambris.
